This premier birding journey combines with rich nuances of historical interest as you travel to Keoladeo National Park, Corbett National Park, Nimaj, Jodhpur, Jaipur, and Agra, the home of the legendary Taj Mahal.
You will visit Bharatpur, home of Keoladeo National Park, one of the great ornithological wetland wonders of the world. A birders' paradise for long, the historic park continues to attract birding enthusiasts from around the globe. Corbett National Park, in the Himalayan foothills, is India's oldest National Park and the first to come under the umbrella of the Project Tiger conservation programme. It is home to over 600 species of avifauna, apart from its fabulous wealth of wildlife including the Asiatic elephant, tigers, bears and leopards. With so much to see on the tour one can only make random example's of the tempting sighting these popular birding sites offer. Keep your eyes peeled for the Siberian Rubythroat, a Spotted Forktail or Altai Accentor browsing by a cool mountain brook. Check the swaying mustard fields for the lanky Sarus Cranes or an Orange-headed Thrush watching you from the undergrowth, or Scarlet Minivets darting through the forest canopy. Watch the first flush of a rosy dawn on the marble splendour of the Taj Mahal at Agra and again marvel at the flamingo-like hues on a snowy Himalyan peak at sunset. All this and more awaits you.
ITINERARY
Day 1 - Fly to Delhi.
Day 2 - Delhi - Tour of Old & New Delhi.
Day 3 - Delhi / Jodhpur / Nimaj - Morning walk in Lodhi Gardens. Fly at noon to Jodhpur and drive 2.5 hrs,
stay at Luxurious Chhatra Sagar Camp. Evening nature walk with your hosts around the lake for
those who are keen birders.
Day 4 - Nimaj - Morning and evening nature walk with your hosts.
Day 5 - Nimaj - Jeep safari to tribal villages accompanied by your hosts.
Day 6 - Nimaj / Jaipur -Drive 4 hrs. Afternoon tour of walled city.
Day 7 - Jaipur - Morning excursion to Amber fort. Afternoon at leisure.
Day 8 - Jaipur / Bharatpur - Morning drive 4 hrs. Afternoon explore the park by cycle rickshaw or cycles
accompanied by local naturalist.
Day 9 - Bharatpur - Spend the day exploring the park with a local naturalist by boat and cycle rickshaw.
Day 10 - Bharatpur / Agra / Mudfort Kuchasar Morning drive 1 hr via Fatehpur Sikri to Agra. Visit the Taj
Mahal and Agra Fort. Later drive 5 hrs to Kuchasar.
Day 11 - Kuchasar / Corbett - Morning drive 4 hrs to Camp Fork Tail. Lunch with resident naturalist, a
Himalayan bird specialist, who will be accompaning you full time during your stay. Afternoon nature
walk.
Day 12 - Corbett - Explore the park. Stay overnight in Forest Rest House inside the park.
Day 13 - Corbett - Morning game viewing on elephant back. Evening return to Camp Fork Tail.
Day 14 - Corbett / Delhi / Departure - Drive 6 hrs to Delhi airport.
Ideas for extending this Journey
3 days elephant safari can be organised in Corbett.
Week in Himalayan Resort From Corbett drive 4 hrs to Kumaon Hills. Stay at Kalmatia Sangam or Pangot for a week to relaxation in Himalayan vista and prime bird habitat.
Rishikesh Drive 4 hrs, spend few day at spa Ananda in the Himalaya in Rishikesh, or in a Camp/Lodge on the Ganges and do white water rafting or kayaking.
